Sam joined GIR as a London-based reporter in 2019 and is currently the deputy editor. He has covered many beats while at GIR, reporting on a wealth of cross-border financial crimes from foreign bribery in Djibouti to Chinese espionage in London. He is particularly interested in the emerging use of international human rights laws to hold businesses liable for war crimes. He previously worked as the lead researcher on The Lost Pianos of Siberia, a non-fiction book about the legacy of Tsarist-era music in modern Russia. Sam enjoys running on Wimbledon Common in his spare time.
