Dr. Akhil Prasad is the group general counsel and company secretary for Boeing India and serves as a Board of Directors member for all Boeing India entities. He is also responsible for legal advice and counsel to other Boeing subsidiaries and joint venture in India.
Before joining Boeing in 2013, Dr. Prasad has worked with Fidelity Worldwide Investment, The Walt Disney Company India, General Motors India, Electrolux Kelvinator, Modicorp Group including Modi Xerox and Graphtech India. He has more than 30 years of experience as an in-house counsel in India and has worked with legal teams spread across different countries.
Dr. Prasad is a visiting faculty with some of the leading institutions in India, in the field of business, leadership development and law.
Dr Prasad is a co-founder of General Counsels’ Association of India (GCAI). Launched in 2021, GCAI is fast becoming the voice of In-house Counsels and General Counsels in India by engaging with the key stakeholders that will transform the legal profession in India – Government, Judiciary and the Academicians. Through its flagship think tank sessions, Nyaya Nirmaan, GCAI is deliberating on issues that should be addressed to make India a Viksit Bharat by 2047. Also GCAI’s focus is to provide higher learning, skilling and mentoring opportunities to young professionals and students and launched a four-week program on January 05, 2026 called Youth Unchained Through Knowledge & Transformative Internships - YUKTI. In the first edition of YUKTI, 119 students from 21 law schools across India, participated; over 70 faculty members from Government, Judiciary, corporate sector, and regulators provided required training to students; students also visited the Indian Parliament, the Supreme Court of India, WIPRO office and Maruti Suzuki factory. There are other programs on professional development that are being conducted by GCAI.
Dr Prasad is also a biographer and released a book YUGPURUSH on his father Dr Anil Prasad, who did fabulous social service by treating poor patients for free. Also, he chronicled his family since 1869 to date and added 471 members to his great grandfather Ramanuj Dayal’s family, whose forefather Ghir Raj Singh was a Minister of Law, in the Court of Emperor Shahjehan.
Dr. Prasad has two bachelor’s degrees in commerce, and law. He has two master’s degrees in law – one from India and another from Northwestern University, U.S.A, and has completed an Advanced Management Program from Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania. He holds a Certificate in Business Administration program from Instituto de Empressa, Madrid, Spain (IE). He also has Doctor of Philosophy (Investor Protection - India) and Doctor of Laws (Media Piracy - India) degrees. Dr. Prasad is also a Fellow Company Secretary (India), Fellow Chartered Secretary (England & Wales), Solicitor (England & Wales, Non-Practicing).
