Michael L. Diakiwski is the Senior Director & Associate General Counsel for Public Policy & Government Affairs at Palo Alto Networks. In this role, he provides strategic, policy, and business counsel to senior leadership on critical issues involving artificial intelligence, national security, cybersecurity, and government collaboration.
He previously served as the company’s Assistant General Counsel for Policy and as its first Senior Cybersecurity Counsel, advising executive leaders and technical teams on incident response, data privacy, and enterprise-wide crisis management. Prior to joining Palo Alto Networks, Michael advised clients as a member of the National Security and Privacy & Cybersecurity practices at Wiley Rein LLP in Washington, D.C.
Before entering the private sector, Michael served in several senior capacities at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, including as Counselor to the Secretary and as Attorney-Advisor to the General Counsel. His federal service also includes tenures at the White House and the Senate Judiciary Committee, as well as legal roles with the U.S. Department of Justice and the New York State Attorney General’s Office.
